“Love watching this young man”

Former Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal applauded India’s left-hand opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal for his emphatic maiden Test double hundred against England on day 2 of the 2nd Test in Vishakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA cricket stadium. The Indians are trying to produce a fightback in the 5-match series, after a 28-run dramatic loss in the 1st Hyderabad Test.

Kamran Akmal could not hide his emotions and as soon as Yashasvi Jaiswal raised his arms to celebrate the 200-run mark for the first time in his short international career, Akmal took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote a few lines in appreciation of the youngster.

He is not the only one to applaud him for the tremendous feat as the entire cricketing fraternity showered their support and appreciation on Jaiswal. And why not? It was a true Test match innings, something that is so rare to see in the modern era, especially from the cricketers that gain prominence through their performances in the shortest format.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock had it all. From traditional defensive stroke play to aggressive down-the-track hits for sixes, the 22-year-old infused his IPL batting style with a proper touch of Test match-type patience and composure. He is anyways well-known for his compactness, foot movement, and fearlessness to express himself. And all of that was in full display at Vizag yesterday and during the initial minutes of day 2.

When Stumps were called for day 1, Yashasvi Jaiswal overtook former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin as India’s highest run-scorer in a single day of a Test match. On day 2 after getting to his maiden double hundred, Jaiswal emulated Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kamble in becoming India’s 3rd youngest batsman to reach the 200-run mark.

Overall, the 22-year-old has become the 11th youngest batter to do so. He has shown the signs of all the special things to come from his bat in the near future and it is a big win for the Indian team management as they have found themselves a true gem.

“What A Player He Is..”, Kamran Akmal Sends His Appreciation To Yashasvi Jaiswal

One can always deny opportunities to a player but no one can actually deny raw talent. And if that talent is like Yashasvi Jaiswal, whose career has taken off because of his sheer hard work and discipline then it gets even more hard to not appreciate.

Kamran Akmal had found himself in a similar situation and wrote words of appreciation for the youngster.

“Jaiswal is playing his 6th test match and scored his first double hundred today. What a player he is. Love watching this young man play,” Akmal wrote on Twitter.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sole effort of 209 off 290 balls including 19 fours and 7 sixes, helped the Indians to post a respectable 1st inning total of 396. There weren’t any other notable performers in the batting order and the second-best scorer from India was Shubman Gill with just 34 runs. If Jaiswal hadn’t stepped up and scored 209 then India would have easily been folded for less than 300.
