India wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel talked about the learnings he got from great MS Dhoni. He said that he asked the Chennai Super Kings skipper about his cool mindset and the keeper-batter advised him to just watch the ball and play.
MS Dhoni no doubt has been a guide for many youngsters in India. Many youngsters look up to him as an idol and he no doubt has shown them a path to success. The keeper-batter has a huge reputation in world cricket because of what he has achieved for the Indian team.
Among all the youngsters who look up to him is Dhruv Jurel. The keeper-batter received his maiden call-up for the Indian team for the ongoing Test series against England. He didn’t play the first match in Hyderabad but is expected to play a key role as the series progresses.
Dhruv Jurel after his rollicking performances in the domestic circuit forced the selectors to pick him in the team for the England Tests. The batter has one century and five half-centuries to his name at an impressive average of 46.47 with the bat in FC cricket.
Dhruv Jurel spoke about his love for MS Dhoni and said that the former Indian skipper shared valuable advice with him. He revealed that the CSK skipper told him to don’t pay much heed to outside pressure. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he explained:
“I have always been the biggest fan of MS Dhoni. Last year, I got a chance to speak to him and l asked him, ‘What is your mindset When you are going inside?’ He simply said, ‘Just watch the ball and play. Don’t think about anything. Whatever pressure is coming, it’s coming from outside.”
Dhruv Jurel further revealed the words of MS Dhoni, saying that the CSK captain told him. He narrated:
“You have to visualize how you are going to play a bowler. Just let it be, get your preparation done, and just watch the ball. You have already done so much, that’s why you are here, just don’t doubt yourself, go out and play, and express yourself. Don’t worry about the result, focus on the process.”

Dhruv Jurel further talked about his interest in wicketkeeping. He said that he loves being involved in the game and he doesn’t feel that keeping is a burden. Stressing on the same, he explained:
“I enjoy wicket-keeping. I enjoy the fact that the ball is coming to me, l am very
involved in the game. The ball comes the most to a keeper in a match. Even more than batting, I love wicket-keeping. In any format you play, the ball has to come to me and I enjoy it. It’s not a burden for me, I enjoy every moment the ball comes to me. Wicket-keeping has helped me in batting as well. If we are bowling first, I find out how the wicket is behaving, what I can do, what shots are in play today.”
It remains to be seen if Dhruv Jurel will get the opportunity in the next game or not. But with the kind of talent he possesses, he surely will be a vital asset for the team in the future.
