Ross Taylor Snubs Rohit Sharma And Kane Williamson, Picks This Batter As The ‘World’s Best Batter’

Former New Zealand cricket veteran and middle-order batsman Ross Taylor has chosen one of his former IPL teammates as the world’s best batter, surpassing the likes of Kane Williamson and Rohit Sharma. The 39-year-old right-handed batsman, renowned for his contributions to the New Zealand team, particularly their World Test Championship win in 2021 and appearances in the finals of the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups, was once a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side in the IPL. Much like many players and cricket experts worldwide, Taylor has singled out India and RCB legend Virat Kohli as the top batsman of the current era.

In a video posted on RCB’s official social media handle, Ross Taylor, the record holder for the most runs scored for the New Zealand cricket team in international matches, was asked to name the best batter in contemporary cricket. Taylor’s response was clear, “I think it’s hard to go past Virat. In the one-day format, he’s the best player. Him and Sachin are the best ever one-day players,” he commented.

Ross Taylor Talks About The Bowler Who Gave Him Nightmares

When queried about who he believed to be the most formidable bowler in today’s cricketing world, Ross Taylor promptly mentioned Jasprit Bumrah. He humorously added, “I am glad I am retired because Bumrah used to always give us nightmares, I think to the New Zealand team. Obviously, he’s just come back from injury and bowled fantastically well. I think currently he is probably a player that a team tends to scout and prepare well for,” he said.

Ross Taylor, a four-time ODI World Cup participant for New Zealand, expressed his views on the 2023 ODI World Cup, suggesting that India is the favorite to secure the title based on their current form. He stated, “Well, I think the favorites for the tournament are India, with the way they are playing, being fantastic, and obviously home conditions.”

India’s performance in the tournament has been exceptional, winning all seven of their matches played so far, making them the first team to secure a spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinals on November 2. India is now gearing up to face South Africa at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday. The Men in Blue will battle hard to retain their top spot in the points table.
