KL Rahul Gets Stunned As Rohit Sharma Plays A Magnificent Pull Shot For Six

Rohit Sharma seemed to be in a different mood during match 9 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan. The Indian captain set the stage on fire at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and made sure that his side won the second game of the tournament.

In the chase of 273 runs, Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing as he bashed Afghanistan bowlers all over the park. He didn’t let any bowler settle as he counter-attacked them and smashed them all over the park. He didn’t put a foot wrong in his innings and made sure he set the platform.

Rohit Sharma brought up his century in 63 balls, the fastest by any batter in the World Cup. This was his 7th ton in the ODI World Cups, the most by any batter in the 50-over tournament. He also shattered Chris Gayle’s record to become the leading six-hitter in the history of international cricket.

With the way Rohit Sharma timed his ball today, he left many awe-struck. The best moment came when he a hit pull shot to shatter Gayle’s record. It left his teammate KL Rahul, who was sitting in the dressing room. The keeper-batter was amazed by the brilliance of the shot.

Here’s the video:

Rohit Sharma ended with a knock of 131 runs off 84 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 156 and also smashed 16 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. His knock put India in the driver’s seat and they won the game by the margin of 8 wickets.

IND vs AFG: Just backed myself to play my natural game – Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma talked about his innings after the game. He said that he backed himself and said that it’s a special feeling for him to get a World Cup hundred. He also opened up about his attacking approach and explained:

“It was a good pitch to bat on, just backed myself to play my natural game. I knew once I got my eye in, the wicket was going to get easier for me. Something that I have been working on from a long time. It’s a special feeling to get a World Cup hundred. Really happy with that. Don’t want to think too much (scoring 7 hundreds in just three World Cups), I don’t want to lose my focus.

“You need to make such things count. You gotta make it big. Some of it (the shots he plays) is premeditated. I let my instincts take over at times, sometimes it really works well. It’s my job to make sure to get those starts especially in run chases. That’s something I have done in the past and something I love doing. Sometimes it (attacking the bowlers) works, sometimes it doesn’t. Just need to keep doing it and keep putting oppositions under pressure going forward.”

Rohit Sharma will be next seen in action when India will take on Pakistan on 14th October in Ahmedabad.
