The cricket season never goes off in the world. After the World Cup, cricket fans across the globe are gearing up for the T20 World Cup. The tournament is scheduled for June 2024 but the hype has been creating since now. The qualifiers of the T20 World Cup are getting played. Uganda has qualified for the tournament as the 20th team. Their unique celebration after the win caught the limelight.
Special Celebration by Team Uganda:
The T20 World Cup will be played in June 2024. The tournament will be hosted by the West Indies and the US. after beating Rwanda, Uganda secured their place in the T20 World Cup. this East African country has qualified for a global cricket tournament for the first time. That is a huge achievement for them. This is a big achievement for the team. They have been an associate member of the ICC since 1998 but doesn’t play test or ODIs.
After qualifying in the T20 World Cup, their celebration caught the eye. They all danced to a nursery rhyme called ‘Ekibobo kili mu nyumba’. The entire squad along with the coach danced after the victory. Uganda Cricket Association posted the video on the internet and it went viral.
Uganda’s T20 World Cup Entry:
Uganda won the match against Rwanda by nine wickets and secured their place in the T20 World Cup. along with Namibia, they will qualify in the tournament as the second team of the Africa qualifier. Uganda became the fifth African nation to play in this tournament. In the last match against Rwanda, Uganda’s bowlers performed exceptionally well. They stopped the opponent in just 65 runs. While batting in the second innings, they reached the target in 8.1 overs and won the match by 9 wickets.
After Uganda’s win, the 20 slots of the T20 World Cup have been filled. Five teams will be divided into 4 groups. The top 2 teams of each group will qualify for the Super 8 stage. After that, Super 8 teams will be divided into two groups. Two teams of each group will qualify for the semifinals.
