Star Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been re-appointed as the captain of the National team’s white-ball team. From now on, Babar will be leading the ODI and T20I teams, replacing left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who was appointed as captain of the shortest format only 2 months ago. This means that Babar will be captaining the Green Army when they welcome New Zealand for a 5-match home T20I series on home soil.
Moreover, Babar Azam will be captaining Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup for the 3rd time in a row. Reports were anyways circulating about his re-appointment and this development was confirmed earlier today by the Pakistan Cricket Board through a post on X.
“Babar Azam appointed as white-ball captain. Following unanimous recommendation from the PCB’s selection committee, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as white-ball (ODI and T20I) captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team.” – PCB wrote on X.
