Glenn Maxwell’s brilliant knock was certainly helped by physio Nick Jones’ advice

Five time World Cup champions Australia has played efficiently throughout the tournament, despite having a slow start in the beginning when it registered a 6-wicket defeat against 2023 World Cup favourites team India, in their opening match of the 2023 World Cup. They weren’t performing well until it secured its first victory of the tournament against Sri Lanka. From then on, it continued its winning streak against the Netherlands and Englands. In their 8th fixture, the time had come when the Men in Yellow lived up to the expectations of their fans.

Power hitter Glenn Maxwell!

The match between Australia and Afghanistan witnessed a magnificent showdown from Australia’s legendary all-round Glenn Maxwell, who hit a massive and brilliant knock against Afghanistan having slammed 201 runs off just 128 balls. The extraordinary feat achieved by Glenn has made him earn a lot of praise justifying why he is one of the best cricketers out there. Despite sustaining constant back pain and cramps, he made it through a wonderful knock and this shows his ability to become a serious rescuer for his team when Australia was lurking at 49/4 in just 8.2 overs. But little did the Afghanistan team know about a magnificent double century that came from Maxwell.

Physio’s useful advice to Glenn!

After Afghanistan posted 291/5 having batted first, Glenn came out there to display an exceptional performance. On sustaining cramps, team Australia’s physiotherapist Nick Jones gave some advice to Maxwell which helped him to survive there for so long. Nick Jones remarked “If we can keep you as upright as possible, you are going to be able to keep going from now.” He further stated to Maxwell “Look, I think your best bet is to get you up off the ground. You’re lying down, other things are going to cramp, we need you up on your feet, we need to stretch the key muscle groups that are going.”

Australia is currently leading at the 3rd position and is likely to mark their presence in the semifinals of the tournament. Australia will face Bangladesh in its next on November 11 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
