Earlier, batting first, Rohit Sharma once again provided India with a flying start with his attacking brand of cricket. After the dismissal of Shubman Gill for a low score, Virat Kohli joined Rohit Sharma in the middle and there were high expectations from the batting greats. However, Kohli looked scratchy and was eventually cleaned up for a 9-ball duck.
Soon Shreyas Iyer also fell for 4 to a short ball, but KL Rahul provided much-needed support to his skipper. Together they batted brilliantly and built a great 91-run partnership in 111 balls.
In the end, Suryakumar Yadav played an amazing 49-run knock off 47 balls, with 4 fours, and Jasprit Bumrah supported him well with his 16-run knock to power India to a good total of 229/9.
